One of the best ways that peoplean effectively save money is by creating a viable budget and sticking to it. Budgets allow people to see the money that they have available, and prioritize what expenditures to make.

A good way to set up a budget is to look online at bank statements and pay records to figure out how much money is being made every month. with this ital figure for the month, people can then choose how they will distribute the funds. In some cases, spending is necessary, such as in the case of bills or payments or food. these expenses can be marked as mandatory, leaving a certain sum of money after the fact.

With the new accurate number about how much directory money there is, people can then choose how they will spend the rest of it. This will make buying comfort and entertainment items easier, because there will be an allotted sum that will be shot for.

By following this monthly habit, people can learn where they are spending too much and they can put extra money in savings, helping to grow that fund in much more efficient fashion.

Here are some ways that you can save money on these fees.

A home energy audit can identify ways to save up to hundreds of dollars a year on home heating (and air conditioning). This audit can be attained from your electric or gas utility company. You can ask if they audit homes for free or for a reasonable charge. If not, ask them to refer you to another qualified professional or ask your friends and neighbors for recommendations.

Also, you can save up to $100 a year in electricity costs by enrolling in loan management education programs and off hour rate programs that are offered by utility companies. You should contact your electric utility for information about such cost-saving programs.

During this season of mass purchasing over half of Americans are purchasing their holiday gifts with credit cards. There are a few things that you should be aware of this holiday season to make sure that you use that credit card wisely so it doesn’t use you.

You probably are bothered every time you check an item out with an offer for a credit card from a certain store. They may sound like great deals giving you 10 – 15 % off your purchase, but what they don’t tell you is that overall you are loosing money with there insane interest rates and low limits. If possible, avoid using or signing up with store branded credit cards.

A lot of Americans have transitioned from going to the local store to make their holiday purchases to simply buying online. Make sure that when you buy online that you comparison shop and include shipping in your comparison price. Stores will often not show how much shipping will cost and when you think you are getting the best deal you may end up paying more after shipping is added to your bill. Another piece of advice is that you should be aware of online fraud stores that will offer insane deals for either no product or an off-brand product. Never purchase from a store that you don’t know is reliable or doesn’t have an https:// in the URL on the page where you enter your credit card information.

The last piece of advice for you is to make sure that you choose wisely from your current credit cards. After unwrapping all of your gifts, some people may desire to return items that weren’t purchased in the correct size or color. Some credit cards, such as American Express and some Visa cards, allow for up to a 90 day return policy. So if you don’t procrastinate your shopping the store return policy may have already expired and you might be relying on your credit card’s 90 day return. That is of course you didn’t buy something last year for them, because you are out of luck and it better be something they really wanted.

We hope you have a successful and stress-free holiday shopping experience this year.

There is a new website called freecycle.org where you can register and search to find nice items no longer needed by their owners. This is also a great place to put your old things that you do not want to throw away but do not want cluttering up your house.

You should be willing to check your options out before making a purchase so you can take advantage of these freebies.

The House passed a bill last Friday so that the “cash for clunkers” program could continue on in its quest to help the economy. The program has been so successful that they have almost used up all of the $2 billion that was set aside as an incentive for car owners to trade in their older, less efficient cars.

Republicans are not too excited for the extension, in fact, many of them think it should be over and done with. Some feel that the incentive price for trading in a car should be lowered from $4,500 to around $2,000.

Many experts feel that even if the Senate agrees to pass the $2 billion dollar extension, the money would only last another week or two if demand continues to stay where it is.

So, if you are looking to get yourself into a new car, with a $4,500 gift from uncle sam to use towards your new car, you better get it fast. Time, and money are running out.

I was very frustrated the first time I flew after they placed the restriction on liquids. Just like everyone else I was throwing away random things in my bag I forgot I had. I also realized I could not easily fly with carry-on anymore because I could not bring shampoo or face wash etc.

The good news is I have learned a way to combat some of this. I will bring an empty water bottle through security with me and then when I get through I will fill it up at the drinking fountain. Some of you may be thinking that this is not a winning situation because I am compromising bottled water for tap but what you do not realize is that tap water has way more restrictions on it so it can actually be better for you than bottled water.

This way when I go through the airport I do not have to pay more money than is necessary and I get the water I want.

When we wear our clothes once does it not feel so tempting to throw them in the dirty clothes basket? For some reason at the end of the day that basket seems to beckon us and longs to find a friend in our clothes.

Realistically though, how dirty are our clothes after wearing them once? Especially if it was just to work in an office all day then they are probably not very dirty.

We have a habit of over-washing ourselves and our clothes. When we do this we shorten the lifespan of our clothes through destroying them in the washer. If we can hold out on washing our not dirty but simply worn clothes then we will lengthen their life and save money.

In the area I live alone there is a kids-bowl-free event going on this summer. Instead of paying extra you should fit these promotions into your schedule so you can avoid these fees.

There are also many credit companies out there that want to charge you a fee for them to retrieve your credit report for you. That’s very kind of them but I have good news. By law you can get it for free once a year. So instead of paying them unnecessary fees go get it yourself.

On top of all of this there are coupons abounding that go unused. If we turn to coupons and sales we can save ourselves hundreds of dollars.

Cash for Clunkers is underway and the government is starting to hand over money to those who turn in cars that are currently getting poor gas mileage. The cash for clunkers program is an attempt to help the environment by providing incentives for people to buy newer and more eco-friendly cars. The government has set aside $1 billion in for the program.

Cash for Clunkers gives away anywhere from $3,500-$4,500 per car/truck that is turned in. The amount of money given depends on what type of car the consumer is upgrading to.
So incase anyone is looking for a new car and would like an extra $4,500 towards the purchase of their new car, this is the way to do it.
