Talking with a professional about your goals is a great way to get a realistic perspective on what you can accomplish. The more that you know about what you can accomplish the easier it will be to set goals that are quantifiable.

There are some goals that you can start working on today. A great example is looking for a better credit card. A card with a higher spending limit and a lower interest rate may be exactly what you need to lower your bills. Lower interest rates can make a big difference in what you are paying towards your credit card month each month.

It is important to always be in the know when it comes to your spending and earning habits. Because, that’s what it all comes down to – how much you save and how much you spend. The more controllable aspect is your spending, so it is important to stay award of those numbers. Write down everything you spend your money on for a couple weeks or a month. Be as detailed as possible, and try not to leave out small purchases. Assign each purchase or expenditure a category like: Rent, Car insurance, Car payments, Phone Bill, Cable Bill, Utilities, Gas, Food, Entertainment, etc.

It may help to keep a small notepad with you constantly so you can get in the habit of recording your expenses and saving the receipts. You should then sit down once a week with your notebook and receipts to record your expenses in a larger notebook or more organized spreadsheet program.
This can help you achieve any of your financial goals as you will be in better control and have a knowledge of your financial standings at all times.

Cash for clunkers eligible vehicles are what many people are hoping they have these days.

In these rough economic times, we all know that there is a theme that is growing more and more relevant in our every day lives. It is the fact that money really does matter. Not necessarily the amount we have, but what we do with the money that we do have.

If you want to call it “penny-pinching” then go right ahead, but I will stick to my term, “saving money matters”.

Let’s face it, money is what makes the world go round, not love. Does love pay the bills? Does love get you into a movie theatre? Or perhaps, does love get you that new car you have always wanted? No. It is money. True, some people say money isn’t the most important thing in life, and I agree with that, but I am positive that it sure is ahead of whatever is in second place.

So, scrapping and saving is the way to go. There are numerous ways to save money, multiple websites and software programs that can “help”, but when it comes down to it, we just need to not be so laxidasical with what what we buy. We need to look for deals, cut coupons, and learn to distinguish the difference between what truly is a want and a need. When we get the basics down, life will be a little easier and we just might be able to enjoy a little bit more of our busy lives. As we do these things and start to feel the sun shining again, we just might become a part of the elusive club that realizes that “saving money matters”.
