One of the most important parts of responsibly building up wealth is understanding the role of the stock market and understanding how to use it.

The stock market is not for everyone, but it is a viable way for people to accumulate wealth that goes beyond the interest offered by banks. While the interest that is offered by banks is consistent and reliable, it rarely exceeds the constant escalation of inflation, making the interest one that maintains money levels instead of improving them.

Investing is a gamble, but is less of a huge thing if people understand how to balance their investments. A diversified and balanced stock portfolio can reliably build wealth, and protects the person if one of their investments falls through by having the rest of their money elsewhere.

A balanced portfolio should have a combination of stocks and bonds, as well as having different areas of emphasis. For example, a person should not invest in resources or commodities or housing completely, but should instead be spread among all of them. This will build a portfolio that balances the relative risks of profitable stocks with the reliable growth of long term bonds, making it so that wealth is accumulated, and that the investment and financial security of the person are protected.

Another stock, cit, has a bleak outlook today. Beware of the bankruptcy bound stocks. It seems to be the fear of most investors the last few weeks. Today, cit, a financial bank hoding company, has had their shares halted today. Yep, just like GMGMQ. The fear is that they will be heading to bankruptcy incase there is some sort of miracle.

Cit has been a rather popular stock and has a good name behind them, but during these financially bleak times, it appears that they will be drowning. Rumor is that they are searching frantically for lenders, bankers, investors, anyone to help bail them out. The reported amount that woul be needed, $3 billion. Let’s hope for the best and remember, beware of the bankruptcy bound companies.
