The Gift that Saves June 25, 2009
We all know that giving gifts makes us feel good. Just seeing that smile on the person’s face can brighten our day. Yes, giving gifts is nice – but giving gifts can have a hard effect on our budgets. This is especially true if you need to give multiple gifts.
You want to be able to give gifts. You might even be expected to. But if giving presents is making you broke, you don’t want the whole world to know. Instead you need to find a better solution.
You can save a lot of money by making your own gifts. There are so many gifts you can make with your regular household items, or, if you want to step it up a little, there are virtually unlimited things you can do after you’ve visited your local craft store. One of my personal suggestions: Candle making.
I don’t know of anyone that doesn’t want a nice feeling in their home. This includes warmth, comfort, beauty, and a good aroma. Candles can provide all of these things for any home. The best part is you can easily make them yourself.
You will probably need to go to the craft store to make your own candles. You will need to get yourself some wicks, a pound of beeswax, stearic acid, candle molds, vegetable oil, a double boiler, and a candy thermometer. To give your candles a nice scent, you can buy fragrances to add to the wax. The range of smells is limitless.
